Box Office: ‘Jolly LLB 2’ inches closer to Rs. 100 crore club

Megastar Akshay Kumar, who delivered three back-to-back blockbusters ‘Airlift’, ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Rustom’, last year, continues his winning streak this year also. His first release of 2017 – ‘Jolly LLB 2’ – has left the cash registers jingling at the domestic box office and is all set to join the coveted Rs. 100 crore club by its second Tuesday.

After raking in a whooping Rs. 77.71 crore in its first week, ‘Jolly LLB 2’ grew unbelievably well in the second weekend and made Rs 17.73 crore. The movie minted Rs 7.24 crore on Sunday alone, taking its 10 days total to Rs. 95.44 crore. Made on a budget of 45 crore, including P&A, the film has pulled in Rs. 95.44 crore at the domestic box office. It has made a profit of Rs. 50.44 crore, which takes its ROI (Return On Investment) percentage to 112.08%.

‘Jolly LLB 2’, which released nationwide on 10th of February, is directed by Subhash Kapoor and also features Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla in important roles. It is a sequel to the 2013 film ‘Jolly LLB’, which featured Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani and Amrita Rao in key roles.

The outstanding performance of the movie once again proves the fact that Akshay Kumar is the most bankable star when it comes to box office numbers. Now what remains to be seen is how far his film goes at the box office and how many previous records it breaks.

Meanwhile, other releases of the week gone by ‘The Ghazi Attack’, ‘Irada’, ‘Running Shadi’, ‘John Wick 2’, ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ and ‘Split’ have tanked at the ticket window.
