Box Office: Dull opening for ‘Begum Jaan’

This weekend’s big release ‘Begum Jaan’ has got off to a dull start at the India ticket window.

The hard-hitting Vidya Balan release has opened up with occupancy around 15-20%, according to Box Office India. The film’s opening is disappointing considering its a Good Friday holiday. If collections don’t improve today, it may struggle over its first weekend of release.

The Punjabi film ‘Manje Bistre’ has got off to a stupendous start in Punjab with around 85% occupancy. The film has opened up to coincide with Vaisakhi but due to censorship delays, it was unable to open up on Thursday – Vaisakhi day itself. It could turn out to be a huge money-spinner in Punjab.
