Box Office: Deepika’s ‘xXx’ beats Priyanka’s ‘Baywatch’ in US

With ‘Baywatch’ not clicking so well with US critics, Priyanka Chopra’s role as Victoria Leeds was much appreciated. However, it was Deepika Padukone’s launch vehicle in Hollywood, ‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage’ that has outperformed Chopra’s action-comedy.

DNA India reports that even though ‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage’, which released in January, was a box office dud, it still managed to get a better opening than ‘Baywatch’. It also had negative reviews going against it.

The report adds that ‘Baywatch’ raked in a paltry $18 million in the first three days of its release, while ‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage’ got slightly more with $20 million during the same period. The lifetime business of Padukone’s Hollywood film was around the $44 million figure, so it remains to be seen if ‘Baywatch’ can beat that.

‘Baywatch’ also releases in India this weekend.
