Box Office: ‘Dangal’ becomes biggest Indian hit in China

With ‘Dangal’ creating history in its native country, the Aamir Khan starrer has managed to do the same in China.

The film has clocked up Rs. 2000 crore worldwide ($307 million), according to Forbes. The film in its 53rd day of its release made Rs. 2.5 crore at the China box office taking its total to Rs. 2000 crore. The film had also earlier become the only non-Hollywood film to be listed in the Top 16 highest grossing films of all time at the China box office.

Talking about its success, Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan was cited in Bollywood Life saying, “Dangal has inspired Chinese filmmakers. Its actors are now megastars in our country though there wasn’t a lot of promotion for it in China. I think Indian films really taught us a lesson this time. Chinese audiences are easily moved by such simple, straightforward and beautiful stories.”
