Box Office: ‘Daawat-E-Ishq’ & ‘Khoobsurat’ go neck-&-neck on first day

It wasn�۪t being touted as a clash as such but Yash Raj Films�۪ ��Daawat-E-Ishq�۪ and Anil Kapoor Productions�۪ ��Khoobsurat�۪ have both released today to a similar reception.

The films are currently both at around 15-20% occupancy, according to Box Office India. Directed by Habib Faisal, ��Daawat-E-Ishq�۪ is at a slight advantage what with it being a wider release but there hasn�۪t been much of a difference between the two on the first day. Both will need to pick up on the weekend, but ��Khoobsurat�۪, starring Sonam Kapoor and debutante Fawad Khan, will perhaps need to grow more on Saturday for it to be able to strongly contend with ��Daawat-E-Ishq�۪.

Last week�۪s release, ��Finding Fanny�۪, is struggling just under 25 crores nett in the sub-continent. However, it has seemingly received a better response overseas.

There is no big release next week but the week after will see a clash between ��Haider�۪ and ��Bang Bang�۪ which should be interesting. Both films have decent pulls for the audiences and one can hope that this works in both of their favours.
