Prakash Jha۪s Chakravyuh۪ though hard hitting and critically acclaimed, has failed to make a mark at the box office in India. It was never meant to score abroad, but released on Dusshera۪ the film was expected to pick up unfortunately it never quite made the cut. It has collected approximately Rs 5.25 Crore in two days (Box Office India) and this coming weekend will prove crucial for the film.

Student Of The Year۪, meanwhile continues to be the first choice for movie goers in both India and abroad. The film is Dharma Productions۪ third consecutive success after Agneepath۪ and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu۪ this year, and proves that Karan Johar۪s business acumen is spot on. For a film starting rank newcomers, to hit nearly Rs 50 crore (Bollywood Hungama) in its opening week is no mean feat in these economically turbulent times. Abroad too the film came in 11th in the UK and made a respectable 131,125 in its first week (BFI).

OMG! Oh My God۪ continues its dream run and is closing in on nearly Rs 80 Crore (Box Office India), while the Ranbir-Ileana-Priyanka starrer ‘Barfi!’, as we reported earlier, is now the third highest grosser of the year standing at Rs 120 Crore.

With no noteworthy releases in the next few weeks, all eyes are now on the big Diwali releases – Son of Sardaar۪ and the late Yash Chopra۪s Jab Tak Hai Jaan۪, which after the legendary director۪s demise, is expected to shatter box office records.
