Box Office: ‘Badhaai Ho’ opens up well; ‘Namaste England’ poor

‘Badhaai Ho’ has surprised many by taking a bigger start at the India box office today, over the second release ‘Namaste England’.

According to Box Office India, the impressive opening of ‘Badhaai Ho’ puts it amongst the Top 10 biggest release of 2018 so far. Its opening was around 30-35%, compared to the 10-15% business of ‘Namaste England’.

‘Badhaai Ho’ has opened up better than other small-medium releases this year including ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Stree’. Meanwhile, the film has also opened up bigger than ‘Dhadak’ in some centres.

Despite the ‘Dussehra’ holiday in some parts of India, ‘Namaste England’ has not taken the start that was expected. It is likely to pick up during the weekend but with the way things are going, ‘Badhaai Ho’ certainly has the upper hand.
