Box Office: ‘Baazaar’ opens up poorly in India

Despite a lull period at the box office ahead of Diwali, ‘Baazaar’ opened up poorly at the ticket window in India – but still a little better than the other smaller releases.

According to Box Office India, ‘Baazaar’ starring Saif Ali Khan, had the better opening than its rivals ‘5 Weddings’, ‘Chal Jaa Bapu’, ‘Dassehra’, ‘The Journey of Karma’, ‘Kaashi’ and ‘Gaon – The Village No More’.

In morning trading, ‘Baazaar’ struggled to reach Rs. 1 crore nett but could hit that if it attracts big enough crowds in the evening. Nevertheless, there are expectations that ‘Baazaar’ may do better than Khan’s previous two films ‘Chef’ and ‘Kaalakandi’.

With the other films proving a whitewash at the box office, last week’s release ‘Badhaai Ho’ will continue to dominate.
