Box Office: ‘Baahubali 2’ shatters records

‘Baahubali 2’ has had a stupendous start at the India box office, with collections yet to come in from international territories.

Times Of India reports that ‘Baahubali 2’ had the highest ever opening in India with Rs. 122 crore. It crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark on its first day itself – a first for an Indian film. The multi-lingual film collected Rs. 122.03 crore nett – including business of various languages of the film.

The report adds that the Hindi version itself raked in Rs. 40.75 crore, while the other Rs. 81 crore came in from the other regional languages.

Producer, Karan Johar tweeted, “UNTHINKABLE and UNIMAGINABLE HIGHEST EVER DAY 1….data being tabulated …will take a while!!! Watch this space for the number! #Baahubali”

‘Baahubali 2’ has beaten the collections of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (2015), which up until now had the largest opening on day one. It had collected Rs 39.32 crore. ‘Sultan’ (2016) was also beaten, which delivered Rs 36.59 crore on its first day.
