Box Office: ‘2 States’ third biggest opener of 2014

Arjun Kapoor – Alia Bhatt’s romantic movie ‘2 States’ has managed to take an overwhelming start at the box office, making it third biggest Bollywood opener after ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘Gunday’.

On day one, the film collected Rs. 12.42 crore, then fetching another Rs. 12.13 crore on Saturday and going upwards on Sunday to Rs. 13.51 crore. It made an impressive Rs. 38.06 crore over the first weekend.

The opening figures were also bigger than Varun Dhawan’s ‘Main Tera Hero’, which raked in Rs. 21 crore a couple of weeks ago.

Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani told Mid-Day, ���The film has done much better than ‘MTH’ and is going steady at the box office even on weekdays. For a film starring young names, the numbers are very encouraging.�۝

Amitabh Bachchan�۪s ‘Bhootnath Returns’ has collected Rs. 30 crore in the first ten days of its release.
