Films will come and go but an Aamir Khan film is ultimately an Aamir Khan film. Expectedly, audiences (mainly at urban centres owing to the nature of the plot), flocked to the theatres to catch the first showing of ‘Talaash’ with the India-wide opening of the film in the region of 90% (source: Box Office India).

A murder mystery in which Khan plays a cop, the film also stars Rani Mukerji as a bereaved housewife and Kareena Kapoor as a prostitute. Talaash۪ is mainly aimed at the elite and multiplex audiences so a bumper opening was always ruled out. Abroad too the film has opened at the maximum number of screens ever for an Aamir Khan starrer.

Initial reviews of the film are extremely positive so the occupancy is expected to pick up with the film most likely to dominate in the coming week at least until the release of the Akshay Kumar starrer Khiladi 786۪.

The much touted Diwali releases, Yash Chopra۪s Jab Tak Hai Jaan۪ and Ajay Devgn۪s Son of Sardaar۪ continue to do well, but are likely to take a hit with the release of Talaash۪. Jab Tak Hai Jaan۪ especially has done extremely well in the UK it is still 10th in the charts having collected an impressive 1,302,581 (source:The Guardian) in its three week run.
