Box Office: MKBKM۪ gets cold reception; Dabangg 2۪ continues dream run
Imran Khan, who hasn۪t had a release since 2012۪s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu۪ hasn۪t had such a good start to the year. His solo release Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola۪co starring Anushka Sharma has taken a dull start at ticket windows this morning. According to Box Office India, the opening of the film was in the region of 30 35% which can۪t bode well for it in the long run. However, the reviews of the film are generally good so it still has a chance of picking up by word of mouth publicity.
At the other end of the scale, Dabangg 2۪ has shattered expectations and has now collected in the region of Rs. 150 crores in India (source: Box Office India). The film has done exceptionally well abroad too collecting approximately 900,000 in the UK alone.
Both films have the advantage of an open couple of weeks until the release of Tips۪ Saif-Deepika-John-Anil starrer Race 2۪ – a sequel to the 2008 smash hit directed by Abbas Mustan. Like its predecessor, the sequel is expected to fare well too.
