Boney Kapoor proud Janhvi Kapoor hasn’t copied Sridevi

With the bitter sweet excitement of Janhvi Kapoor finally entering the acting world with her forthcoming ‘Dhadak’, her film-maker father Boney Kapoor seems to be her biggest and most precious fan. Owing to the huge pressure she is expected to come under for being the daughter, of one of the Indian film industry’s most celebrated megastars, it seems his eldest daughter has managed to ensure, that she makes her own path.

“I am especially proud of the fact that my daughter hasn’t copied her mother (actress Sridevi). Even though she hero-worships Sri, Janhvi has chosen to follow her own style of acting. In fact, just before we left for Dubai (where Sridevi passed away) we saw rushes of Dhadak, and Sri was relieved to see that Janhvi was not influenced by her in terms of acting style,” Asian Age reports the fim-maker stating.

Being a part of a huge film family, Junior Kapoor has had the opportunity to pick up on the way things have worked and changed throughout the years in the film business. However, it doesn’t seem to have stopped her doting dad in teaching her everything he feels she’ll need to know. “I have made sure that my daughters are well-informed about classic films from India and abroad. Janhvi is clued into the works of the best actors and the best cinema from the world over. She can talk about the films of Nutan, Meena Kumari, Nargis, Waheeda Rehman and Sridevi,” he explained.

He went on to add, “Janhvi recently did an interview for a Hindi television channel, and the interviewer was bowled over by her knowledge of cinema. He thought she was just dropping names, but she actually knows what she’s talking about.”

Despite her mother Sridevi no longer with us, Kapoor (Jhanvi) has been inundated with support from not only her friends and family but from fans all around the world.

Also starring Ishaan Khatter,’Dhadak’ is set to hit the big screens on 20th July.
