Bombay HC extends stay on ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ defamation case proceedings
‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ amongst five Indian films to be shortlisted
After a defamation suit was filed against ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and lead actress Alia Bhatt, BizAsiaLive.com can confirm that the Bombay High Court has stayed the proceedings for the case.
Babuji Shah, one of the petitioners, has said that there are scenes in the film which are defamatory and that they tarnish his mother’s image. However, the court said that there was no proof that he was the son of the deceased and they had extended the stay in August. It’s now been extended once again.
Meanwhile, the film’s premiere was announced recently – it will be taking place at the Berlin International Film Festival.
