Self-isolation: Latest Bollywood romantic tunes to get you through

A couple weeks in with stay at home turning into the new normal, everyone is finding a new angle to family life with this new found lease of time added to the daily routines. Social distancing has given everyone a shot at rekindling relationships so here are our top latest romantic Bollywood songs for those loving moments with your partner. While one can expect to hear a lot of Arijit Singh, there is still a lot of new talent and variety in here that will quite easily tug on those heart strings and build more closeness at these stressful times. As they say.. love is the only real remedy for all fears, stresses and low points in everyone’s life!

Pritam has traditionally ruled this genre and in 2020 he does not disappoint with the music of ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ (2020) with Shayad and Rahogi Meri being two easy favourites in the voice of Arijit Singh. Irshad Kamil’s lyrics are simply so smooth on these making them so easy for Singh to deliver his magic on.

Rochak Kohli’s collaboration with Gurpreet Saini & American singer Lauv delivered a very refreshing sound on Dil Na Jaaneya from ‘Good Newwz’ (2019). The modern sound is really well balanced with Hindi & English lyrics. Akasa’s vocals are the real highlight giving this song a totally standout vibe in this category.

Another song with a brilliant vibe is the remake of Kinna Sona from ‘Marjaavaan’ (2019). Kudos to Meet Bros for this romantic remake that is beautifully delivered by Jubin Nautiyal & Dhvani Bhanushali. Thodi Jagah and Tum Hi Aana are two other gorgeous romantic numbers on this album. While Tanishk Bagchi proves his metal on originals with Thodi Jagah bringing alive Rashmi Virag’s poetry with some classic Singh vocals, Tum Hi Aana proves the talent of Payal Dev with the ghazal styling given to Kunaal Vermaa’s lyrics delivered to almost perfection by Nautiyal.

One can’t keep ‘Kabir Singh’ (2019) songs out of a romantic playlist! Bekhayali is perhaps one of the best ever songs with its rock styling delivered by Sachet – Parampara making this an iconic number. Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage is yet another beautiful number by Singh singing to the lyrics and music of Mithoon. Mithoon brings a lot of warmth in this song that makes this one a great song to cuddle up to.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari’ (2019) delivered Ve Maahi which is another Bagchi masterpiece with his own lyrics. The rustic vibes of this song delivered by Asees Kaur & Singh is simply amazing to listen to.

Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ (2019) gave us Chashni in two versions and both are different while being equally stunning to listen to as composed by Vishal-Shekhar with Kamil’s lyrics. While Abhijeet Srivastava delivers a very soulful and deeply romantic vocal on the original what really blows one away is Neha Bhasin’s stunning vocal on Chashni (Reprise) and is a must listen with its acoustic vibes.

Ayushmaan Khurrana makes a top vocal return with Mere Liye Tum Kaafi Ho from ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan’ (2020). Bagchi’s upbeat arrangement with acoustic guitars along with Vayu’s lyrics gives this song a real happy romantic vibe.

Jasleen Royal’s voice is enough to melt the heart on Jahaan Tu Chala from ‘Gully Boy’ (2019). Her almost talking delivery style works perfectly with Aditya Sharma’s lyrics making this one of our favourties.

Sajid-Wajid’s ‘Dabangg 3’ (2019) delivered two really amazing romantic numbers. Danish Sabri wrote a stunning sufi style song called Naina Lade that is made iconic by Javed Ali with some outstanding vocals. While Irfan Kamal writes Habibi Ke Nain delivered in a ghazal style by Nautiyal and Shreya Ghoshal that is a must listen.

Nautiyal’s vocals are the best heard on Pyaar Toh Tha from ‘Bala’ (2019) as Sachin-Jigar’s ambient composition gives him a big range to play around with in the arrangement of the song. Asees Kaur’s supporting vocals & Priya Saraiya’s lyrics are just spot on and so memorable on this song!

Sanam Puri & Neeti Mohan came together on Fakira to the music of Vishal-Shekhar and lyrics of Anvita Dutt Guptan whose poetic style delivers deeply romantic songs and Fakira is no different! This song from ‘Student of the Year 2’ (2019) has a very soft texture for easy listening and very enjoyable.

Vocally the best song of the year goes quite easily to Kalank – the Title Song from ‘Kalank’ (2019) as Singh has a range and depth like no other on this song. There is huge amounts of emotion and depth in Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics and massive instrumentation conducted by Pritam on this song.

There are two lovely romantic numbers on the ‘Luka Chuppi’ (2019) album. Bagchi’s remake of the Punjabi number Photo is really worth a listen. Karan Sehmbi’s rural style modern vocal debut is definitely a winner. While Abhijit Vaghani’s composition and Kunaal Verma’s lyrics on Duniyaa have a different level of depth to it. Akhil and Bhanushali rock the vocals on this song!

‘Malang’ (2020) has a beautiful and deep number called Humraah sung to perfection by Sachet Tandon to the music of The Fusion Project. Verma’s lyrics are a must listen on this song. Chal Ghar Chalen is such a warm number to soft groove to thanks to the music of Mithoon. Singh delivers his best on the vocals to Sayeed Quadri’s moving lyrics.

We love happy romantic songs and the upbeat Tu Mila To Haina from ‘De De Pyaar De’ (2019) is the best at that. Almost a dance number as composed by Amaal Malik, Singh gives a different style of vocal here. Positive vibes ooze out of the lyrics written by Vermaa and this one just puts a smile on the face.

Rashmi Virag’s poetry on Dhoonde Akhiyaan is a masterpiece. Almost a jugalbandi of Hindustani Classical and Sufi styles of music, Bagchi gives an interesting twist to the music of this song. Vocals by Yasser Desai & Altamash Faridi are just brilliant on the high notes making this song from ‘Jabariya Jodi’ (2019) worth listening to on a repeat.

Finally one can’t miss the deep & soulful remake of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha from ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ (2019). Darshan Raval’s vocals are very pleasing to the ear with his husky style while the music is really soothing as composed by Kohli with the lyrics of Gurpreet Saini.
