Blackburn based billionaire brothers front-runners to buy Asda

Two Blackburn based billionaire brothers have emerged as favourites to but the Asda supermarket.

Mohsin Issa, 49 and his brother, Zuber, 48, are behind the petrol station brand, Euro Garages Group, which they started with a single garage in 2001. It is now worth £9 billion, with 5,400 outlets, according to This Is Money.

Reports say that the brothers have been chosen as the “preferred bidder” to acquire Asda, which would handover the business back into British ownership. US company, Walmart currently has been the owner of Asda for the past 21 years.

The deal is expected to value Asda at around £6.5 billion.
