Black sweeps board at STAR Screen Awards

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black walked away with three of the top accolades at last night’s STAR Screen Awards.

The touching movie walked away with the Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director award.

Abhishek Bachchan scooped the Best Actor In A Comic Role for his performance in Bunty Aur Bubbly and Nana Patekar the Best Actor In A Negative Role for Apaharan.

Newcomer Vidya Balan, who earned rave reviews for her performance in Parineeta, won with the Most Promising Newcomer Female award and Shiney Ahuja was adjudged the Best Promising Newcomer Male for his role in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.

Shankar Ehsan Loy won Best Music Director for Bunty Aur Bubbly. Gulzar won the Best Lyricist award for “Naam ada” from Yahaan.

Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal received the Best Male and Female Vocalist for “Dheere Jalna” from Paheli and “Piya Bole” from Parineeta respectively.

The title of Best Film is still being kept underwraps and will be announced when the ceremony is shown on STAR Plus UK on Saturday 21st January at 22:00.
