However, this isn’t the only thing. With Anurag Kashyap’s creative expertise, Ranbir Kapoor’s ability to fit into every role with immense ease and Anushka Sharma’s freshness, the film is absolutely one of the most awaited films of the year. With a huge star-cast to boast and Akhtar’s way of bringing intertwined plots on screen with great simplicity and grandeur, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ could not come any slower. It may feel like it’s been an age since the movie was announced but no doubt that’s just the excitement talking! For now, we’re just saying “June, get here already!”

The film has been shot in various locations in India as well as in Kashmir and this list would have been incomplete without it.

The poster of ‘Brothers’ was unveiled recently online. It shows Sidharth Malhotra, Akshay Kumar and Jackie Shroff’s rugged looks for the film and has somewhat increased the excitement and level of intrigue for the film. Produced by Dharma Productions, the film is definitely going to be packaged right and one can now hope that the film will be a little hatke for the actors involved – including leading lady Jacqueline Fernandez.

‘Phantom’

Katrina Kaif & Saif Ali Khan in 'Phantom'

Release date: 28th August

Kabir Khan directed ‘Phantom’ is another movie which many are eagerly waiting for. Kabir does action pretty well and in this film, the audiences will see Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif doing just that. The film has been shot in worldwide locations including Lebanon and London and promises an interesting aftermath story post 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Both Saif and Katrina have had considerable months since their last releases and no doubt the audiences are waiting to see them both on the big screen.

‘Shaandaar’

Shandaar Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor 340x

Release date: 4th September

Director: Vikas Bahl

*ing: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Kapur, Sanjay Kapoor

What can be said about a film which has been touted as Bollywood۪s first wedding destination film? Starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt a fresh Jodi and with Vikas Bahl as director, the film definitely looks like it will be an interesting and fresh watch. With last year۪s Queen۪, Bahl has raised people۪s expectations of himself. This film therefore has much to fulfil and we are confident that this team will satisfy the audiences when Shaandaar۪ hits the screens.

As always, there are also films which we are all waiting eagerly for which don’t quite cut it to make our list. One such example is ‘Mr X’. Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur will be starring in this Vishesh Films production. The poster was unveiled recently and promises a film with a difference in the Bhatts’ attempt to take cinema that little further in what seems to be the sci-fi genre. The film is scheduled to release on 17th April.

‘Gabbar is Back’ has also had much of the first posters and teasers released of late and promises a film which is worth a watch. With Akshay Kumar and Shruti Haasan pairing up for the first time for this action thriller and also Sanjay Leela Bhansali producing the movie, it seems this one might just up the stakes a little. It is a remake of a popular Tamil film which saw success. It’s slated for release on 1st May.

The final film which we feel deserved a mention is the sequel of 2011 film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. With Kangna Ranaut appearing in a double role for ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, and R Madhavan also reprising his role, it promises to be an interesting second instalment to an already popular film.

With that, our summer movies list comes to an end for another year. We’re already a little bit excited about the movies expected in the winter months already but as far as 2015 goes so far, Bollywood needs the next few months to release some films of substance. We’re hoping that the films in this list will give the audiences the entertainment and sentiments needed for the year to be particularly memorable for cinema.
