BizAsia teams up with Leicester Belgrave Mela

The UK’s only Asian media news website, BizAsia.co.uk will be partnering up again with this year’s Leicester Belgrave Mela.

For the second year running, BizAsia.co.uk will be the exclusive online media partner for the popular outdoor free event.

The Leicester Belgrave Mela, now in it’s 25th year will be taking place on Sunday 10th July.

This year, the Entertainment stage will be supported by the BBC Asian Network. The headline acts include JK, Bonafide, Ash King, Panjabi Hit Squad, Sonny Ji, DJ Kayper and others set to be announced. The Entertainment Stage will be hosted by Leicester born Star TV presenter Nishil Saujani, and later in the day by Tommy Sandhu and Noreen Khan.

Highlights include the Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, ��Trunk�۪ the giant puppet elephant, street artists from India and famous Bollywood soul band ��Bowtown�۪.

For the first time, Star Plus replaces Sony Entertainment Television Asia as headline sponsor for the event.

Local radio station, Sabras Radio also join hands again with the Mela this year.

Festival Director, Sanjib Singh Sahota said, “It�۪s a huge milestone for the city and we�۪re really proud of how the festival has grown and developed over the years. We�۪ve had great support from Leicester City Council, Arts Council England and the people of Leicester for 25 years and we�۪re delighted to be celebrating this huge landmark with them.”

In 2010, thousands of people took to the streets of Leicester to be part of the Mela festival and enjoyed the spectacular ‘Mela Motions of Colour Parade’, as well as a host of free arts activities and community performances. The Leicester Belgrave Mela also attracted the biggest names in UK Asian music, including H Dhami, Mumzy Stranger, Rishi Rich, ‘EastEnders’ star Preeya Kalidas and the BBC Asian Network.
