BizAsia talks to Shweta Subram about her single Piya

Canadian singing sensation, Shweta Subram, who has previously performed with music maestros Salim-Sulaiman and won Shankar Mahadevan’s singing competition, as recently released her single Piya in which she is heard with Filmfare Award winner, Karthik. The music for the song is given by the talented Pravin Mani who is a long-term associate of Oscar winner AR Rahman.

Talking exclusively to BizAsia about working with Karthik and Pravin Mani, Subram commented, “To me Piya is about Eternal love and I think everyone who’s in love or have been in love will relate to the song. It was brilliant working with Karthik. He’s easy going, fun and insanely talented. To have Pravin Mani leading the project made it even more special”.

The trio have brought together some very different musical talents in the track which will have appeal for almost all music lovers.��Piya is Shweta’s first release featuring a singer from India, the first non-filmy Hindi track by Karthik, and the first official release through Pravin’s and Pras’ production house, Funky Maple Canada.
