Yash Raj Films are all set for their next release this week, ‘Daawat-E-Ishq’. The film promises a very colourful and vibrant look at love and, that too, with food thrown in. With Habib Faisal as director and Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra together on the screen for the first time, the film is perhaps one of the most fresh-looking in recent times.

BizAsia had the opportunity to catch up with Chopra, whilst she was in the midst of promotions for the film in the sub-continent.

Your character in Daawat-E-Ishq۪, you are playing a Hyderabadi girl. Tell me about her and what you did to prepare for the role.

Parineeti Chopra: Basically she is a very sweet girl from Hyderabad who is trying to do something different from the village she has been bought up in and she is a huge foodie. How she falls in love with this guy from Lucknow – the chef and the film tells a really sweet and happy love story and the character.۝

Did you have some training for the accent?

Parineeti Chopra: Not only for the accent but the language too. It was a different dialect than I am used to and me being from North India, I had not even heard it. So I had a coach for four hours a day and get the whole script and dialogue right so if I had to improvise, I should know the language. There was a lot of preparation required but I love languages and I have a thing for linguistics and accents so I really enjoyed it.۝

You are pairing up with Aditya Roy Kapur for the first time. What was it like working with him?

Parineeti Chopra: It was wonderful. Aditya is a really great guy and very easy to get along with. We share our sense of humour so it is easy to work with someone if you really get along. He is a very supportive co-actor and I enjoyed working on this film so much and I hope to do many more films with him.۝

You are working with Habib Faisal for a second time after your debut in ‘Ishaqzaade’ (2012). What was it like working with him this time compared with the first time?

Parineeti Chopra: It was very nice. I was very proud that he chose me for this film. Repeating work with an actor is the greatest compliment anyone can give you so I feel proud and I hope he is happy with what I have done with the film. Otherwise my relationship with him is good because I understood him much better and much quicker and it was a pleasure.۝

You are showing on your Twitter that you are dressing differently and have adopted a new avatar. How did this change come about?

Parineeti Chopra: It is a change that I have very consciously bought about in my life. I would never understand clothes or fashion or dressing at one time, probably because I was always overweight so I wouldn۪t really know what to wear for my size. Now as time has passed, I know what looks better on me. I have a great stylist Natasha who takes care of what I wear and I think it takes time. What looks good on you is what you feel comfortable in anyway so I have been trying to show the little that I have learnt about clothes and fashion but I have a long way to go till I get perfect.۝

Your films always have great soundtracks. Is there anything you want to mention about the soundtrack for Daawat-E-Ishq۪?

Parineeti Chopra: Sajid Wajid have given us a great soundtrack for the film. I really love the title track, it is a very upbeat and positive happy song. We had great fun shooting it for seven days with a lot of dancing with Aditya. I enjoyed it very much.۝

Your fans have been asking about your future projects. What films do you have coming up?

Parineeti Chopra: My next release is going to be Kill Dil۪ with Ranveer Singh. Apart from that, the film with Saif Ali Khan is absolutely happening but it has been put on hold right now as we have not had time to work out our dates so we will shoot it later. We don۪t know yet and no I have not signed a film with Shahid Kapoor yet.۝

‘Daawat-E-Ishq’ also stars Anupam Kher and will see the B-town debut of Karan Wahi. It is slated for release on Friday, 19th September. BizAsia thanks Parineeti Chopra for taking the time to talk to us and we wish her well with the film.
