What was it like working with Reema Kagti as a director?

Reema is extremely wonderful and capable director. She knows exactly what she is looking for in a shot. Actually her approach is individualistic trait and not to do with gender.

Tell us about your character in Talaash۪.

I play Inspector Shekhawat who is investigating a case. At the core of my character, there is loss and coping of loss. It۪s an emotional story.

How did you feel sporting a moustache?

I was planning to have it a little longer. But believe that cops aren’t allowed to, so we went for this size. Yes it was a nice change.

The film has a darker feel which adds suspense and is different to what you are usually associated with. Were you apprehensive to do this role despite your versatility as an actor?

I loved the script when I heard it the first time. It’s a film that has emotions at its core.

How do you feel the ensemble cast will add to the story of the Talaash and the suspense drama?

That’s the requirement of the script. We have some fine actors.

How did you feel working with Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji?

Well Rani and I are working together after Ghulam and Mangal Pandey: The Rising. Kareena and I are working together after 3 idiots. Both are extremely good actors and enjoyable to work with. Both are actors who react to a scene and work with me as an actor in a scene instead of working in isolation. That brings a lot of energy and helps improve the overall film performance.

In recent months, Talaash۪ has been compared to many films with a similar plot. Does this frustrate you? Why or why not?

I find these rumours extremely funny. They don’t affect me.

There۪s no item song in the film which is now the norm these days. How do you feel about items songs being put into films to add marketing value?

Talaash۪ has some soulful music. Ji Le Zara is my favourite.

You are seen as the man with the Midas touch in Bollywood. What do you feel makes you and the projects you are associated with unique?

I work on all projects with equal amount of hard work and sincerity.

Looking to the future, what films are coming up for you?

I finish Dhoom3۪, then start withRaju Hirani’sʉ Peekay۪, and later next year, we start with season 2 of Satyamev Jayate.

‘Talaash’, which is slated for release on 30th November, is sure to wow the audiences again in true Aamir Khan style. As far as innovation and out-of-the-box cinema goes, you don’t have to look much further than Khan.
