BizAsia Special: 11 Bollywood songs that add perfect flavour on Holi

Be it Eid, Diwali or then Holi, there’s a Bollywood tune for every festival in India. And much like the fluid culture of tinsel town, the celebration of festivals has gone beyond the religious boundaries. We often see people from different walks of life come together and celebrate and Holi is definitely one such occasion. In fact, there are a few film moments that have become iconic as far as the festival of colours is concerned.

BizAsiaLive.com brings readers 11 songs that are most fitting for Holi 2023!

A colourful Big B
Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Rang Barse’ from ‘Silsila’ (1981) is one of the biggest Holi hits ever. There’s no replacing this song from any of the festivities be it on screen or on-ground. On this day you will certainly have heard the song play out. Yash Chopra’s casting was not the only winner of this classic, the song remains an iconic one!

Bachchan Sr has not just one Holi hit to his credit. Another popular number that got teary-eyed audience of ‘Baghban’ (2003) all pumped up when Big B and Hema Malini danced to ‘Holi Khele Raghubeera’. Fun fact, Bachchan has even crooned this number alongside Udit Narayan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Alka Yagnik.

And who can forget the iconic ‘Sholay’ (1975) song ‘Holi Ke Din’ by RD Burman when one mentions about the festival. While Jai, Veeru, Basanti along with the gaonwalas had a blast celebrating it was Gabbar Singh who lit up the scene afterwards.

And even though Amitabh Bachchan isn’t in this number, he features in the film ‘Waqt: The Race Against Time’ (2005). The song however stars Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra grooving to Anu Malik’s ‘Do Me A Favour’.

King Size Celebrations
Before Shah Rukh Khan became known as the King Khan, the actor was popular for his dialogue ‘KKKKK…Kiran’. The stutter may not continue to stay with Badshah of Bollywood, but ‘Darr’ (1993) song ‘Ang Se Ang Lagaana’ remains a Holi fave!

The other SRK song that we hear on loud speakers during the festival of colours is ‘Mohabbatein’ (2000) number ‘Soni Soni’. It’s not just SRK and his young students, watch this one for a very adorable performance by Anupam Kher!

Kishore-Lata Magic
Another song that we often come across is Rajesh Khanna’s ‘Kati Patang’ (1971) song ‘Aaj Na Chhodenge’. Sung by legends Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, the song has the trademark Rajesh Khanna dance moves that cannot be missed.

New-Age Hits!
When Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone reunited after a personal breakup for ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ (2013) they managed to bring on screen more sizzling chemistry. And as a result we have one of the most popular track ‘Balam Pichkari’.

Another on and off-screen chemistry worth mentioning is that of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The real-life lovers lit the screen when they came together for Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’ (2013). ‘Lahu Munh Lag Gaya’ was the sensuous romance that exploded your senses from both chemistry and cinematography POV.

Talking about romance and Holi, Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Raanjhanaa’ (2013) song ‘Tum Tak’ hits the right chords. A R Rahman’s music and Javed Ali’s melodious voice only make this one more palatable than any thadai.

Keeping up with the fun spirit of Holi, the last pick is Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ (2017) title track by Tanishk Bagchi. It’s fun, light-hearted and extremely groovable!
