BizAsia IIFA Special: Five memorable performances

The IIFA Awards are the biggest awards of the Bollywood world. They are always hosted in the most glamorous of locations and they signify the forever reaching influence of the Bollywood industry all over the world. This year�۪s IIFA Awards are being hosted in Madrid and they promised to be a spectacular occasion. As the 2016 awards are hotly anticipated, BizAsia looks back at some the more memorable performances of the past.

Priyanka Chopra is one actress who brings her A game no matter the occasion and this performance was no different. She came on stage in the most beautiful gold and blue glittering dress and literally drifted down from the heavens to her song Assalame Ishqum from ��Gunday�۪ (2014). Chopra presented the Bollywood Blockbuster performance where she danced her heart out to some of her hit songs including Desi Girl, Aa Gaya Hai Don, Tenu Leke and many others. Chopra showed off the fact that she can embrace the role of the hero, heroine, friend and villain through her different songs. She even went one further and got Hollywood actor John Travolta on stage to perform to Tune Maari Entriyan with his ��Saturday Night Fever�۪ movies.

If there is an actress who can take on a enrapturing stage presence, it has to be the evergreen Madhuri Dixit and 2014 was not any different. Wearing a brown gown, Dixit came up on stage with a bang, dancing to her classic hit dance number Ek Do Teen. She walked through the crowds, dancing with them and revving up the audience before getting up on stage and bringing her unique dance magic to the stage. Dixit performed to her classic dance numbers Mera Piya Ghar Aaya, Key Sera Sera, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga and many others. She did not miss a beat and set the stage on fire with her energetic dance routines.

If you can bring two actors on stage and create real comedic chemistry, it has to be Salman Khan and Govinda. Fresh from the success of their film ��Partner�۪ (2007), they both hit the IIFA stage to entertain the audience with their dance numbers. Khan started off the performance with his dance numbers Tenu Leke and Salaam-E-Ishq which featured rather hilariously Govinda being dressed as the bride. Govinda then shook a leg using his own unique dance moves to Bhaag em Bhaag. The pair then moved onto some great energy filled numbers from ��Partner�۪ which included Partner and Dupatta Tera Nau Rang. It was such a fun performance to see on stage.

When King Khan Shah Rukh Khan performs on stage, you just know that this will be a performance to remember. Arriving on stage on a giant silver bicycle and wearing a suave black suit, Khan broke into a performance of Say Shava Shava and set the audience into a cheering frenzy. He then went on to host a Bollywood dance class, giving hilarious anecdotes to describe why dance moves were created. He didn�۪t even let his fellow Khans go, with Shah Rukh Khan imitating Aamir Khan�۪s Kya Bolti Tu and Salman Khan�۪s famed performance from the title song Dabangg. It truly was a hilarious performance and he invited the audience to join in with this dance moves too.

If there is an actress who can bring elegance onto the stage, it has to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. At the time of her performance, she was at the height of her fame and the audience was excited to see her on stage. Rai Bachchan arrived on stage in a chariot like a princess, being held up by her minions and then broke into a performance of Jashn Bahara. Wearing a diamond glittering red lengha, she then went onto dance to her hit numbers including Tere Bina and Merhaba. It was a stunning performance and she looked so beautiful performing them with ease.

The IIFA performances have always been something to look out for and we are looking forward to seeing the performances of 2016 which no doubt will be a spectacle to see.
