Birthday Special: Priyanka Chopra amidst a love triangle

There is much talk of this ladies love life at this moment of time and why not, after all she has searched far and wide for her pardesi babu. Her first film was the romantic drama ‘Andaaz’ (2003) that saw her character Jiya in a love triangle with Raj (Akshay Kumar) and Kajal (Lara Dutta). The film was a huge success and gave this actress her big break into Bollywood.

On the 18th July Priyanka Chopra will be celebrating her birthday so to keep up with the romantic theme, BizAsiaLive.com will look at five films in which Chopra was at the centre of a love triangle.

‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004)
This romantic comedy saw Chopra as the damsel named Rani who is a fashion designer and lives with her parents. When Sameer (Salman Khan) lands up at her neighbourhood in the hope of having a fresh start in life he sees Rani and instantly falls for her, literally.

However just when Sameer thinks he has all the time in the world to propose to Rani, he is challenged by Sunny (Akshay Kumar) who also has his eyes set on her. Rani has no idea what is being planned by the two men and at one point is confused about who she loves. To make things more difficult for Sameer, Rani’s father doesn’t like him which adds to his tension.

‘Dostana’ (2008)
This comedy caper had Chopra in a glamorous avatar as Neha who works for a fashion magazine. Some strange incidents take place when Sam (Abhishek Bachchan) and Kunal (John Abraham) begin to live with Neha in her apartment. According to her they are dating and have eyes for no one but each other however the truth is something else.

Kunal and Sam lie that they are in a relationship in order to rent the place Neha has. The truth is that they both like Neha while Neha believes that they are all good friends. The saying ‘everything is fair in love and war’ eventually comes into place, when another man comes into the equation making this love triangle a rectangle.

‘God Tussi Great Ho’ (2008)
Again it was a story of two heroes and one heroine. Alia (Chopra) is a successful Television presenter who works alongside Arun (Salman Khan) who on the other hand always seems to get himself into trouble. Things go from bad to worse when Rocky (Sohail Khan) arrives as a presenter at the TV Channel and impresses the bosses making Arun look like an amateur. Not only this Rocky begins to get close to Alia which infuriates Arun even more because he has always loved her but just never had the guts to tell her.

Alia secretly likes Arun and always tries to stick up for him at work but there is only so much that she can do.

‘Gunday’ (2014)
Nandita (Chopra) makes her entry as a charming cabaret dancer who in actual fact is an undercover police officer. She was sent by her seniors to complete the mission of tearing two best friends apart. These two friends are no ordinary people they are criminals in the eyes of the law but to the people, they are their protectors. Inseparable since their childhood Bala (Arjun Kapoor) and Bikram (Ranveer Singh) have never fought in their lives but when Nandita strikes the arrow of love into their hearts they forget all the rules and become worst enemies.

Chopra’s character is part of a love triangle but she isn’t one to sit back and let the men do as they please. When she finds out that they are both interested in her she questions them and tells them that she isn’t an object to be played around with. Whoever wants to be a part of her life needs to win her heart only then will she give one of them a chance.

‘Barfi’ (2012)
A remarkable film that saw some of the best actors come together to make history in Indian cinema. Chopra played the role of an autistic girl named Jhilmil who doesn’t realise when she falls in love with Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor). Barfi can nor hear or speak yet he manages to understand everything Jhilmil expresses.

Jhilmil wasn’t the first girl Barfi had fallen for as he had loved a girl named Shruti (Ileana D’ Cruz) who at first rejected him because she was in love with someone else and wanted to marry him. It is only after her marriage she realises she would have been much happier with Barfi. When Barfi enters her life again she forgets her present life and tries to relive her past by spending time with Barfi which makes Jhilmil jealous. It was a sweet love story which would make many a peoples heart melt.

BizAsiaLive.com wishes Priyanka Chopra a happy birthday and all the best for her upcoming projects.
