BizAsia Birthday Special: Bobby Deol’s iconic songs

During the 90’s if there was anyone who looked great in a leather jacket and rocked the long hair look then that is Bobby Deol. Handsome, charming and a great dancer Deol was the heartthrob of many.

27th January marks the birthday of Deol and on this occasion BizAsiaLive.com will explore five songs of various genres that displayed Deol’s magic.

Bobby Deol

Duniya haseeno ka mela from ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’ (1997)

From the moment Deol appears on the screen he oozes style, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that this song is all about him. He appears out of the dark and is wearing his trade mark jacket along with some coloured shades. The song is set in a night club where he is surrounded by many beautiful ladies who all want to dance with him. Deol’s character (Sahil) sings about how the world is a carnival of beautiful women and how his heart feels alone therefore he searches for a friend for friendship.

The song was fast paced and full of energy and on top of that Deol’s dancing it was hard to look away. He showed that he could dance and it looked effortless.

Udit Narayan sang for Deol while Viju Shah created the music for this film.

Out of all the songs Deol has done it is this one that his fans will remember for him and his performance throughout the song.

Tera rang balle balle from ‘Soldier’ (1998)

Deol’s mischievous side came out with this Punjabi number. Preity Zinta appears with Deol in this girls vs boys song in which both are accompanied by backing dancers. The song had Deol expressing his admiration for Zinta while she leaves no stone unturned in showing how much she dislikes him. The video had elements of comedy in it with Deol  irritating Zinta so much to the extent that she beats him.

Jaspinder Narula known for her Punjabi songs sang for Zinta while Sonu Nigam sang for Deol. It was a great combination of voices which brought the essence of Punjab into the song.

It was the first of many films in which Zinta and Deol would appear together and their pairing proved to be very popular.

Na milo hum se zyada kahi pyar from ‘Badal’ (2000)

Although Rani Mukerji and Deol’s films together may not have done so well at the box office it is this song that proves that their pairing isn’t so bad after all. The song was picturised in various outdoor locations featuring lots of greenery. The presentation of the song was kept as simple as possible and that was the right choice as the video goes perfectly with the tune.

Sonu Nigam and Kavita Krishnamurthy gave their vocals for this song and Anu Malik created the music for the film. Out of all the songs it is this one that is remembered because of its romantic lyrics, the voices of the singers and the charisma of Deol.

Tune zindagi mein aake from ‘Humraaz’ (2002)

It was a song which displayed the emotions of a man who is deeply in love with his wife.  Sudhakar Sharma brought out the characters feelings perfectly with the lyrics he wrote and Himesh Reshammiya completed the song with the wonderful melody he composed.

The lyrics talk about how Raj’s (Deol) life has changed after Priya (Ameesha Patel) entered his life. The song takes place at a gathering where Raj has invited friends and family to celebrate his marriage with his wife Priya. Also present at the party is Karan (Akshay Khanna) who is happy to see how much Raj cares for Priya while Priya seems uncomfortable at his affection.

Love tujhe love main karta hoon from ‘Barsaat’ (1995)

This film introduced Deol and his co-star Twinkle Khanna to the Indian film industry and what an entry it was. Khanna played the role of a rich brat named Tina while Badal (Deol) came to the city for higher studies. It’s at college the two meet and they can’t help but notice one another.

This song reveals how both Tina and Badal feel about one another and it is also one of the most popular songs in the album. Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik sang this romantic love song while Nadeem Shravan created the music.

Khanna and Deol not only looked great together but also their acting was appreciated too. Deol won the Filmfare best male award for his performance.

BizAsiaLive.com wishes Bobby Deol happy birthday.
