BizAsia Birthday Love: Five of Iqra Aziz’s most loved dramas
This Pakistani actress has received a lot of love and admiration from her fans. With every project that she has done she has proved that she has immense talent. Not only this she has the skills to take on any role and mould herself into the desired character necessary.
This young actress is none other than Iqra Aziz who on the 24th November celebrates her 26th birthday. On this occasion BizAsiaLive.com will take a look at five of her dramas that not only did well but were also loved by her fans.
‘Suno Chanda’ (2018)
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this drama was loved by many people around the world. Fans couldn’t get enough of this romantic comedy and rightly so as the drama had everything to keep the viewers glued to their screens. The story revolves around Ajiya (Aziz) and her cousin Arsal (Farhan Saeed) who had to get married to each other to fulfil their dying grandfather’s last wish. The two have basically grown up around one another as they live in a joint family. Meaning they are that comfortable around each other that one minute they could have a sweet conversation and in the next minute they could be pulling out each other’s hair.
While they may be married the rukhsati is yet to happen. How their relationship evolves over time and the family members fulfil this next tradition is fun to watch. Season one was such a hit that a second season was created and aired a year later in 2019. With the success of season two fans of this show are eagerly awaiting for news of a season three but so far nothing has been officially confirmed.
‘Raqeeb Se’ (2021)
Aziz got to work with some of the biggest names in the Pakistani Television industry like Sania Saeed and Nauman Ijaz, not forgetting singer Hadiqa Kiani who made her debut in this drama as Aziz’s mother.
When Sakina (Kiani) has had enough of her abusive marriage and fears for her daughter’s life, she decides to escape with her teenage daughter Ameera (Aziz) and lands up on the doorstep of her first love Maqsood Sahab (Nauman Ijaz). The only issue is that Maqsood sahab (Ijaz) is a married man and also has a grown daughter. He refuses to help them however his wife who knows everything about his first love decides to take in the mother and daughter causing many interesting situations to happen.
The story was different and each character had a powerful role to play in each other’s lives. Ameera (Aziz) was a chatterbox who didn’t know when or when not to speak. She blurted out what she felt regardless of the consequences which panicked her mother. Things get very complicated when she gets too immersed into her mother and Maqsood Sahab’s past relationship.
Aziz was not only nominated for various awards for her role of Ameera but she also won the ‘Best Actress Jury Award’ at the 8th Hum Awards in 2022.
‘Choti Si Zindagi’ (2016)
In this drama Aziz played the role of Amina a young girl who spends her days studying and playing with her friends in her spare time. She has been brought up pampered by her parents as she is their only child and does not know the meaning of house work. Her father and her uncle arrange Amina (Aziz) and her cousin Urwa’s (Shehzad Sheikh) marriage. Urwa (Sheikh) is a university student and is pretty serious about his studies and building his career. While at university he tries to fit into the society around him and even falls in love with a girl there unaware of the changes that will occur in his life very soon.
Aziz and Sheikh looked good on screen and their character’s constant bickering had the viewers in stitches.
‘Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’ (2018)
Imran Ashraf won a lot of praise after his performance in this drama as did Aziz who performed exceptionally well opposite him. Bhola (Ashraf) is a man who has learning difficulties. However the things he comes out with at times surprises people as they are usually quite funny and the truth.
The story gets interesting when Bhola is besotted by a girl named Noorie (Aziz) who belongs to a poor family that collect rubbish to make a living for themselves. Noorie dreams of a better life for herself and works as well as studying to make her dreams a reality.
When Bhola and Noorie cross paths that is when the story becomes interesting. Viewers wanted to know what would become of the pure hearted Bhola and whether he would have a happy ending or not. For many people this drama became memorable for its storyline and the acting.
As for Aziz, Noorie is a character that is loved by her fans even today.
‘Mannat Murad’ (2023)
This drama has already created a lot of buzz on social media because of the character Razia Sultana (Irsa Ghazal) who plays mother to Murad (Talha Chahour). Sadly although Murad (Chahour) is a grown man he still has to live by his mother’s rules. While he feels suffocated he can’t go against his mother as she brought him up and he is the only man in the family who can provide for his mother and four sisters.
So what happens when one day Murad sees the girl of his dreams? Well that is what is on every person’s mind as they watch ’Mannat Murad’. Mannat (Aziz) is an ambitious girl who has been brought up with a lot of love and care by her two brothers and sister in law. She begins working in the same office as Murad and before you know it the two fall in love. However the real drama begins when Mannat realises that her life with Murad won’t be as magical as she thought. There will be many trials because of her in laws especially her mother in law but will her husband support her or his mother? That is the question.
