Birthday Special: Twinkle Khanna & her creative mind

Daughter of the late superstar Rajesh Khanna and the gifted Dimple Kapadia, this lady has made her own name not only in India but around the world. When she began her social media journey she gave herself the title of ‘Mrs Funnybones’, which she also uses for her newspaper columns.

Another fact about this lady is that in 2016 she was honoured with the Outlook Award for being the most inspiring woman of the year.

Khanna revealed that as a child she used to write novels for fun but little did she know that this was what she was born to do. Her first novel was the entertaining ‘Mrs Funnybones’ which came out in 2015 and then came her second novel in 2016 called ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’. Both novels have been appreciated by readers in India and around the globe.

Khanna has won various awards for her writing such as the Crossword Popular Non-Fiction Award for ‘Mrs Funnybones’ in 2016.

Actress
From a young age Khanna was surrounded by the film world as both her parents were actors. When she grew up she decided that she would also try her luck in Bollywood. She made her debut in the 1995 film ‘Barsaat’ alongside newcomer Bobby Deol, for which she won the best female debut award.

After that she went on to work in many more films with the likes of Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan and so on. However a time came when she decided that films were no longer for her and got married to her co star Akshay Kumar.

Interior Designer
There are many celebrities who have tried their hand at interior designing but it was around the late 90’s/early 2000’s that Khanna began her new career in this field. The White Window is a name that is often associated with Khanna as she is the co founder of this business. Khanna and her business partner have a number of stores around India which have known to be popular due to the stylish products that they stock.

With time she saw more and more success in this field winning many esteemed awards like the Ellle Decor International Award. Celebrities like Rani Mukerji and Tabu are some of the names who have had their houses designed by Khanna.

Fashionista
There is rarely a moment when Khanna has appeared at a public event and not looked spectacular. As the years have passed and her role in life constantly changing, she has managed to come up with a great sense of style that suits her and makes her look younger. Be it a luxurious designer gown, a colourful sari or simply a pair of jeans with a white shirt she can pull it off.

She seems to be doing something right because this year she became the ambassador for L’Oreal Professional in India. The salon hair brand which is known worldwide has asked Khanna to be the face of their brand which we agree is a superb choice.

Producer
‘Tees Maar Khan’ (2010) and ‘Patiala House’ (2011) saw Khanna co produce films that starred her husband.

‘Padman’ is the film that Khanna is currently working on and is said to be releasing on the 26th January 2018. The film will star her husband Kumar, Radhika Apte as well as Sonam Kapoor. It is a project that Khanna is very passionate about and with this film she hopes that she can raise awareness regarding a topic that affects women everywhere.
