Birthday Love: Sonam Kapoor Ahuja undertakes five careers in films

Known to be a fashion lover, a foodie and a book worm this actress has many things that one could relate to. Just like these hobbies there are many roles that she has done in which she was able to experience the life of another person while filming. The actress we are talking of is none other than Sonam Kapoor Ahuja.

On the 9th June, Kapoor Ahuja will be celebrating her 35th birthday therefore on this wonderful occasion, BizAsiaLive.com will look back at five of Ahuja’s roles where she took on various career paths.

Art director in ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ (2010)
A hopeless romantic is the exact definition of Simran (Kapoor Ahuja) who couldn’t get enough of romance. It would be fair to say that her love for romantic films was just on another level. Luckily her job was of an art director who created the sets for romantic films and she loved her job. While she took her job seriously her colleague Jay (Imran Khan) made fun of her job and her ideals around romance. After spending more time with him she begins to change her thoughts around love. She had always tried to maintain a perfect life, a perfect love but with time she understands that nothing is perfect not even love.

Physiotherapist in ‘Khoobsurat’ (2014)
Kapoor Ahuja played the role of a physiotherapist named Mili Chakravarthy who is assigned to take care of the stubborn king Shekhar Singh Rathore. Things perhaps would have been simpler had Shekhar not been part of a royal family. His wife Nirmala Devi has so many rules that it sometimes seems that one is in a boarding school. However Mili isn’t one to give up and vows to make a difference to her patient’s life whether Shekhar and his family members like it or not.

Kapoor Ahuja fit into her role well as a physiotherapist showing how much her patient’s meant to her.

Air hostess in ‘Neerja’ (2016)
The film was based on the life of the heroic air hostess, the late Neerja Bhanot who sacrificed her own life in order to save others. It was the first time that Kapoor Ahuja had taken on such a serious role that at the same time was a biopic. Anyone who has watched the film can say that she played her role with great conviction. Not once does it feel like she isn’t a real air hostess, that she isn’t Neerja who is doing everything in her power to keep everyone safe.

Kapoor Ahuja was praised tremendously for her portrayal of the late Neerja Bhanot bringing tears to many people’s eyes. Those who had never heard of Bhanot after watching the film admired this angel who had come into the world to help others while not worrying about herself.

Social worker in ‘Padman’ (2018)
Although Kapoor Ahuja had a small role within the film her character was an important factor who supported the main character when others wouldn’t. Pari Walia (Kapoor Ahuja) is introduced to the audience as a tabla player who had planned to complete her studies and get a well paid job. It never occurred to her that one day upon encountering Lakshmi (Akshay Kumar) her life would find a new meaning. She works with Lakshmi to ensure that his idea of helping women doesn’t get lost and works extremely hard to help him overcome every obstacle that comes his way.

Kapoor Ahuja was greatly appreciated for her performance in this true to life film.

Divorce lawyer in ‘Veere Di Wedding’ (2018)
When it came to her career Avni Sharma (Kapoor Ahuja) was powerful and didn’t stumble once but her personal life, well that was another story. Kapoor Ahuja was great as the confident lawyer who knew how to get what she wanted for her client. Even in Avni’s personal life there were many times when the lawyer in her would come out. One time was when her house maid came to work covered in bruises after which Avni tells her house maid that she can no longer bear to see her in this condition and wants to help her.
