Birthday love: Madhuri Dixit Nene’s most iconic song looks

Many will agree that Madhuri Dixit-Nene is the most graceful when she dances and as popluar as her film song always are, some of her costumes have also been just as iconic.

As the actress celebrates her birthday, BizAsiaLive.com looks back at five of her most memorable song looks.

Ek Do Teen
The actress came under everyone’s radar in 1988’s ‘Tezaab’ and the song Ek Do Teen not only showed off her dancing skills but also how she simply lit up the screen. In the multi-coloured outfit she’s seen in, she looks youthful and fresh. This was the kind of item song many actresses would want to make an impact with so early on in their careers and Dixit-Nene really did just that.

Didi Tera Devar Deewana
Dixit-Nene’s purple saree with gold shiny embroidery is about as iconic as any of her looks get. In 1994’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, this was perhaps the one piece of attire that many will remember forever. Before the song, when she comes down the stairs in her first appearance wearing the saree, she looks simply beautiful.

Choli Ke Peeche
In ‘Khal Nayak’ (1993), Dixit-Nene was seen in the song Choli Ke Peeche which was deemed quite controversial when the film released. However, now a cult song, her costume in the song cannot be ignored. She’s seen in a Rajasthani avatar in a bright red lehenga and she simply steals the entire show with her dancing and facial expressions – as expected.

Maar Dala
‘Devdas’ (2012) saw Dixit-Nene in an interesting role as Chandramukhi, the tawaif who falls for Devdas. In any Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, the actresses always look so beautiful but the one most memorable outfit of the actress’s in the film us arguably the one she wears in this song – the green anarkali dress. She looks stunning in it and it is iconic for the song.

Aaja Nachle
2007’s ‘Aaja Nachle’ saw Dixit-Nene make an on-screen return after some time and this meant that she needed to create a real impact, especially with her dancing and songs. Her black and blue lehenga in the title track really did the job and the song remains one of the actress’s most popular even today. It showed everything the audiences missed about Dixit-Nene in the years she was absent.

BizAsiaLive.com would like to wish Madhuri Dixit-Nene a very happy birthday.
