Jacqueline Fernandez hasn۪t been in the Indian film industry for long but with time she is seeing more and more success. After a number of her films doing well at the box office she has been flooded with offers. Where some actresses have never got the chance to work with some of Bollywood۪s biggest names Fernandez is one who made sure she did as she has worked with Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor as well as other big names of the industry.
As 11th August marks the actress’s birthday,BizAsia will look at five of her item numbers that had audiences dancing away.
Fernandez did a special appearance in the song Dhanno, which is a remix of a song from the 80۪s film Lawaaris۪ (1981). This catchy number saw the film۪s main characters Riteish Deshmukh, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal having a boys night out. Fernandez is dressed in a purple, sparkly top with a matching mini skirt.
During the song Deshmukh and Kumar keep imagining that Deepika Padukone and Lara Dutta are with them.
Dhanno was the first item number to be done by Fernandez and what a memorable one.
Race 2۪ (2013)
Mujhe toh teri lat lag gayee was set amidst a busy night club with Fernandez and Saif Ali Khan having a few drinks and getting to know each other a bit better. The song is very lively and upbeat as any club song should be.
Mayur Puri had written the lyrics for this song while the music of the film was created by Pritam. All the songs in the film were enjoyed by audiences but it was this one that created a buzz because of its interesting lyrics and of course Fernandez۪s aura. It is hard to not notice Fernandez as she looked amazing and her dancing was spot on.
Ramaiya Vastavaiya۪ (2013)
Jadoo ki jhappi meaning a magic hug is a phrase which was created in the film Munna Bhai MBBS۪ (2003) which starred Sanjay Dutt. This song had Fernandez shaking a leg with the dancing legend Prabhu Deva who was also the director of the film. Singer Neha Kakkar sang for Fernandez while Mika Singh sang for Deva.
She was given a desi look in the song wearing a purple and pink ghagra choli with lots of silver jewellery, she looked every part as the village belle. The song was said to be shot in Chandigarh and showed lots of greenery. It۪s very different from anything Fernandez has done before perhaps that is why she agreed to be a part of the film.
ʉMurder 2۪ (2011)
There were two videos to the song Aa zara, one was actually used as part of the film while the other was more of a promotional video. The video featuring Fernandez opens up with her chained to what seems to be a torture chair. In another scene Emraan Hashmi is seen with her playing chess and beside them are shot glasses containing alcohol.
The colours red and black are used a lot in the video to perhaps represent the love and passion between the two characters as well as the danger and evil around them.
Sunidhi Chauhan sang the sensuous song which is about enjoying the moment that they have together because who knows what will happen tomorrow.
Sung by Kanika Kapoor Chittiyaan kalaiyaan (white wrists) proved to be another hit and even though the film didn۪t do too well the songs of the film were popular. Sat at a coffee shop Fernandez watches a group of musicians singing and playing their instruments. Later a group of drummers walk by and circle around her. She begins to sing and hearing her sing the people around her persuade her to get up and dance.
The lyrics of the song consist of the requests a girl has and how she wants her beloved to fulfil them. Some of her requests are like taking her shopping or even the movies and maybe buying her some gold earrings which she would wear with love.
BizAsia wishes Jacqueline Fernandez a very happy birthday and wishes her all the best for her upcoming film A Flying Jatt۪ which will be releasing on the 25th August.
