Birthday love: Arjun Kapoor & his leading ladies

Arjun Kapoor celebrates his 33rd birthday on 26th June. The actor, who made his debut in 2012 with ‘Ishaqzaade’. Since then, he’s been seen with a handful of actresses with whom he has shared good chemistry with. BizAsiaLive.com looks at five actresses which have starred opposite him and how their jodi fared.

‘Ishaqzaade’ – Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti Chopra marked her debut in a main character with ‘Ishqzaade’ having played a supporting actor in her first film. The actress was seen with Kapoor in a story which was a remake of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. As Parma and Zoya, Kapoor and Chopra’s chemistry was definitely the highlight of a film which one could watch over and over. They go from being friendly, to intimate, to enemies to lovers and their comfort off-screen is evident throughout the film.

‘Gunday’ (2014) – Priyanka Chopra
In ‘Gunday’ Kapoor was seen vying for Priyanka Chopra’s attention along with Ranveer Singh. Although the pairing of Chopra and Singh triumphs in the film, Kapoor’s time on screen with Chopra was definitely an interesting watch for the audiences. Playing Nandita and Balal, the two showed an equation which might be better explored in a different film with a different story.

‘Finding Fanny’ (2014) – Deepika Padukone
Kapoor’s pairing with Deepika Padukone in ‘Finding Fanny’ was perhaps the most endearing he has seen in his career til date. They are definitely not a likely twosome but the way their characters were placed in the film and the way the story was shot made them a good watch in the film. These two commercial actors came together for a rather off-beat movie and it worked wonders, with a great critical reception.

‘2 States’ (2014) – Alia Bhatt
With Alia Bhatt, Kapoor was seen in a real-life story based on author Chetan Bhagats’s life titled ‘2 States’, the same name as his novel. The two actors were a perfect fit for the script and the film which looked into two families with different cultures trying to unite because their characters fell in love. Their performances added a much-needed lightness to the script and they gave the film a perfect portion of romance.

‘Ki & Ka’ (2016) – Kareena Kapoor Khan
In R Balki’s ‘Ki & Ka’, Kapoor was seen with Kareena Kapoor Khan in a film which challenged gender normalities. Once again, Kapoor was placed with an actress who he wouldn’t normally be seen opposite but the film was a healthy snippet of a couple who didn’t fit into society’s rules as such but created their own lives. Kapoor and Kapoor Khan’s charm as a good on-screen couple came in the form of them being so different and this worked in the film’s favour.

BizAsiaLive.com would like to wish Arjun Kapoor a very happy birthday.
