The 66th Cannes Festival is one of great prestige and screening her upcoming film, Shortcut Romeo۪ (2013) was a fantastic opportunity for the beautiful actress Ameesha Patel. She graced the red carpet with poise and finesse in a number of fashion forward Indian outfits and acted as an important ambassador for Bollywood at an event dominated by international films. As she comes to celebrate another birthday, BizAsia looks at her five best songs and how she has danced her way through to our hearts. The actress۪ entrance to the world of Bollywood cinema was with Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa_ Pyaar Hai۪ (2000) as an innocent girl next door and now she will be celebrating her birthday as the villain in Shortcut Romeo۪ (2012).

Chand Sitaare in Kaho Naa_Pyaar Hai۪ (2000)

Patel۪s entry into Bollywood cannot be better described as this song where the actress was serenaded by Hrithik Roshan on a sandy beach and being complimented on her beauty. Her innocent look was perfect for her girl next door character and she won the hearts of the audience in her lovely white Indian suit and shy smiles. Her debut made her the most talked about actress around and she never looked back since the film۪s successful release.

Chudi Khankayi Re in Yeh Hai Jalwa۪ (2002)

Just two years after her debut in the industry, Patel got the opportunity to work with Salman Khan and made a success of it. As Sonia Singh in Yeh Hai Jalwa۪, she showed off her comedic talents alongside the likes of Kader Khan, Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher. In this song, Patel dazzles in a number of Indian outfits seducing her lover with her classic moves.

Sanam Mere Humraaz in Humraaz۪ (2002)

Who can forget Patel۪s role in the romantic thriller Humraaz۪ which was nominated for a number of Filmfare awards and gained critical acclaim within the film industry. She played the role of Priya, a dancer and adultress who is happy to do anything for money, even marrying another despite being in love with her colleague. This song was one that the film was remembered for and Patel yet again showed off her dancing and acting talents all in one forum. Wearing simple and colourful saris, the actress was flawless playing her role with finesse.

Mere Jeevan Saathi in Mere Jeevan Saathi۪ (2006)

It is never easy being the other woman in a relationship and it is never easy being the other woman in a film but Patel held her own in both instances in Mere Jeevan Saathi۪. She played the true love of Akshay Kumar۪s character with very simple Indian values in comparison to the more western and calculating character played by Karisma Kapoor. Her clothes in this film were designed with her character in mind, simple, elegant and in pastel colours and Patel glowed in every scene that she was in.

Lazy Lamhe in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic۪ (2008)

After her more traditional roles in films, Patel came back on screen for an item number in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic۪. Wearing just a yellow bikini and even shorter shorts, she revealed her toned form and left the audience speechless in this song. Saif Ali Khan was a perfect combination with the actress and her sexy avtaar certainly reminded those who had forgotten her that she certainly still had it. She sizzled in the pool as she splashed around with the even hotter Saif Ali Khan and displayed her swimming talents with aplomb.

One thing۪s for sure that with the release of Shortcut Romeo۪ on the horizon, Ameesha Patel is not one to be forgotten and her ever changing looks and roles shows that she is one actress not to be messed with. With this mind, we at BizAsia wish the actress a very happy birthday and all the best for her upcoming release.
