Birthday love: Aamir Khan’s five most memorable 90s tracks

Aamir Khan may have started his career in the 1980s but it can be argued that the actor’s most memorable tracks were during the 1990s. As he marks his birthday, BizAsiaLive.com looks back at five songs from that 90s era which were particularly significant in Khan’s career.

Mujhe Neend Na Aaye – ‘Dil’ (1990)
This song is arguably a definitive one for Khan. Coming together with Madhuri Dixit on screen for the first time spelt success for the actor. In this song, the two young lovers are expressing their love for one another and this really did turn into an anthem at the time it released.

Pehla Nasha – ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ (1993)
Another song which really defines the 90s for many was this one, reminding so many of college and school romances. To say this song is one of the most popular in Khan’s entire career is probably right because even now, it’s still looked back on with great fondness by many.

Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Doori – ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994)
This song will forever be etched on audiences’ hearts because it brought together Khan with Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon. With Khan in bed, being woken up by the singing of Salman and then to see his ladylove (Tandon) also dancing without him, it’s enough to keep him awake until she goes to see him.

Yaaron Sun Lo Zara – ‘Rangeela’ (1995)
‘Rangeela’ was the first film that saw Khan play a tapori and he played it very well. In this song, he’s seen getting some local friends together and dancing and almost eve-teasing Urmila Matondkar. This soundtrack was a special one for the era and a different character for Khan.

Tinak Tin Tana – ‘Mann’ (1999)
The soundtrack of ‘Mann’ was a popular one too and saw Khan with Manisha Koirala in a different kind of love story. In this particular song, he’s getting ready to meet his ladylove for the first time and he’s happy and dancing about the prospect.

BizAsiaLive.com would like to wish Aamir Khan a very happy birthday.
