18th July marks the birthday of the exceptionally talented actress Priyanka Chopra. Her various roles have proven to even those who had doubts about this actress that she is here to stay. Chopra is known for experimenting with her roles from playing the role of an autistic girl to re enacting the life of a sports woman, she has no fear when it comes to hard work. To mark the birthday of this wonderful lady, BizAsiais looking at five dance numbers that made everybody take notice of the actress we know as Priyanka Chopra.

Dressed in a simple white blouse and skirt Chopra enters the song drying her hair, somewhat reminding one of an elegant geisha or a white dove as she sets foot on the dance floor. Her look seems to have been kept simple but at the same time small elements like the red paint painted on her hands and feet, minimal silver jewellery and the tattoos perfect the look.

The dance number is more of a modern mujra as Priyanka is seen dancing for her special guest Ranveer Singh in the song. The music consists of both western and traditional beats which makes the song so different from anything heard before. Chopra sings about the love of the main characters in the film Ram and Leela acted by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

Although Chopra was only seen in this song throughout the whole film, she managed to captivate the audiences because of her dance performance not to mention her to die for figure. The song became a big hit and Chopra was praised immensely for her dancing skills. Overall it is a mujra song that will never be forgotten thanks to her unique touch.

Priyanka Chopra's cabaret look in 'Gunday'

Imagine a dark stage with a few dim lights and a small audience add Priyanka Chopra to this and we have fireworks. Chopra sets the stage on fire with her performance as a cabaret dancer, making the audiences watching wanting more. Chopra looked spectacular in her four looks during the song consisting of shimmery corsets, fishnet stockings and the feather headbands. Her whole look was spot on easily taking you back to the 1970s era when cabarets were popular.

Many say that the picturisation of the song was highly influenced by the Hollywood film Burlesque۪ but no matter what anyone says Chopra made that song her own. The female vocals were sung by Neha Bhasin and accompanying her was the disco man himself Bappi Lahiri.

Co-stars Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are seen in the song adding some comedy and at the same time spell bound by the breath taking charisma of Chopra۪s character.

Babli Badmaash۪ taken from ‘Shootout at Wadala’

Babli badmaash is a naughty, peppy number that will transport you back into the 1980۪s. It reminds one of the Amitabh Bachchan numbers often featured in his films, perhaps that is why Chopra۪s outfit was so talked about at the time of the films release.

Chopra is known for working in so many of Big B۪s remakes that perhaps the filmmakers felt, she would be perfect to wear a similar outfit to the one Big B had worn in the 80s. Whether this was a tribute to the legend or simply something the filmmakers did to get the song noticed, it definitely worked.

Priyanka Chopra Dostana

Desi Girl۪ taken from ‘Dostana’

After 2008’s Dostana۪, Chopraa was given a new nickname desi girl۪. She was seen in a caramel sari which was given a modern touch as she played the role of an Indian girl living in America. Alongside her in the film were Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham whose characters would constantly try to woo this “desi girl”.

When this song first came out it was featured at every wedding and party that took place. It celebrated women and wanted to show that even traditional girls were hot. Well Priyanka proved that even a modern girl can pull off wearing a sari and she looked amazing.

Priyanka Chopra Plan

Pyar Aaya Pyar Aaya۪ taken from ‘Plan’

Sung by Alisha Chinoy this 2004 song saw Chopraa playing the role of a bar dancer and Sanjay Dutt۪s love interest. At such an early point in her career it was obvious that Chopra was a good dancer and a song such as this would be easy for her to do. As her role was of a bar dancer her look in the song consisted of a western attire such leather pants, torn jeans and the matching top and skirt. In all she looked very classy and at no time did one feel that the actress looked out of place. Chinoy۪s voice perfectly suited her and it۪s a number that even today people would enjoy.

BizAsia wishes Priyanka Chopra a happy 32nd birthday.
