Birthday Love: 5 times Katrina Kaif prepped for a role
Celebrities are known to do many things when it comes to preparing for their upcoming projects. Some may be required to put weight on for a role or in some cases lose it, while some may need special training.
16th July marks the birthday of Katrina Kaif, an actress who has worked extremely hard to make a name in the Indian film industry. The seriousness of her work can be seen by all the time she puts into training and rehearsals for her films.
BizAsia will look at five things Kaif did for her films.
��Dhoom: 3�۪ (2013)
Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist when it comes to his performances and Kaif is no less. For their roles in ‘Dhoom 3’, both Kaif and Aamir Khan had to train extremely hard to get the results the director wanted. As their characters perform in the circus it was essential that they looked and performed the part as accurately as possible.
Kaif spent a lot of her time training by doing Pilates as well as practising her acrobatic skills on various acrobatic equipment. It is said that it takes a minimum of two years of rigorous training to become an acrobat and both Kaif and Khan took a lot less time to conquer this task. The song Malang��showed the audiences that these two stars are very serious about their work.

Sheila Ki Jawani��was the item number that got Kaif the appreciation she needed. Veronica D�۪Souza choreographed this saucy number and got the actress to do belly dancing for the very first time. She put in a lot of time and effort into her rehearsals and thankfully all the hard work paid off. Not only did she look amazing but she looked as though belly dancing was natural to her.
People may not remember the film but thanks to Kaif�۪s mesmerising moves this item number will remain ever popular.
��Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara�۪ (2011)
Zoya Akhtar directed this fun adventure film that dealt with different relationships but the main one being friendship. Three childhood friends get together after a long period of time and go on a trip to Spain where they all learn to face their fears. Laila (Kaif) enters the life of the three friends as a diving instructor and later falls in love with one of them.
There is a scene where Laila feels the need to tell Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) about her feelings for him. Unfortunately the three friends have left and worried that she�۪ll never see them again, Laila borrows her friend�۪s motorbike and chases after them.
For this particular scene Kaif had prepared herself beforehand by practising to ride a motorbike in Mumbai then later in Spain as well. It is said that she trained for four to five days so that she was confident. Later it turned out to be something that she really enjoyed doing and hoped of one day buying a motorbike.
��Yuvvraaj�۪ (2008)
It was a story about three brothers, their fight for wealth and of course music. This Subhash Ghai direction saw many big names come together such as Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Kaif. Although Kaif had a small role she was able to stand out with her performance. She played the role of a musician named Anushka Banton, a girl who has a passion for music and love.
In the film there are quite a few scenes where she can be seen playing the cello. In order to look convincing it is said that Kaif took lessons on how to play the instrument. Kaif fit the role perfectly and looked elegant while playing the classical instrument. Never once did she look out of place, it was all due to her many months of training which made Anushka a success.
��Fitoor�۪ (2016)
From the moment Noor set eyes on Firdaus he was caged by her thoughts. It was love at first sight for Noor but for Firdaus it was just a game over which she had no control. Based on Charles Dickens novel ��Great Expectations�۪ this film was directed by Abhishek Kapoor and saw Kaif (Firdaus) and Aditya Roy Kapur (Noor) in leading roles.
In this film both Kaif and Tabu were seen sporting red hair and they rocked the look. It was actually the director�۪s idea that the two actresses should have red hair. Well Mr Kapoor surely made many eyes turn and take notice of the two ladies in the film.
Kaif has proved that she is a daredevil and will not shy away from doing whatever it takes to get that outstanding performance.
