Superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be attending the Cannes Film Festival this year thanks to his maiden Hollywood film, ‘The Great Gatsby’, BizAsia can reveal.
Bachchan, along with main lead Leonardo DiCaprio and director Baz Luhrmann will be presenting the film at the opening of the festival. Bachchan and his contemporaries will be walking the red carpet on 26th May.
This is a first for any Bollywood actor to be in attendance at the prestigious film festival for their own part in a Hollywood movie rather than representing on an international scale. Luhrmann is believed to have invited Bachchan personally for his presence at the eventas the film, in which Bachchan plays the small role of Jewish gangster Meyer Wolfsheim, will mark the official opening of the festival.
