Bhumi Pednekar will soon be back on the big screen with her forthcoming film ‘Sonchiriya’, which is being directed Abhishek Chaubey.

Reported on Deccan Chronicle, Pednekar who has been critically acclaimed for her performances in films like ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ (2016) and ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ (2018), shared her reasons for choosing ‘Sonchiriya’ as her next, “Maybe, a lot of people might tell me that it’s not my best career decision but this experience enriched me as an actor. Abhishek Chaubey has been in my bucket list for a long time. When he approached me, I thought it’s for a film he is producing but I never expected my fourth film to be an Abhishek Chaubey film.”

The film is set in the 1970’s and is about a small town ran by rebels in the era of dacoits. Pednekar explains that a lot preparation and training has gone into her role, which the crew describe as “hectic and insane”. “Abhishek told me that it is not a regular movie and would need 10 times more effort than my other films. Just to survive Chambal, you have to become mentally, emotionally and physically strong.” Mainly shot in the valleys of Madhya Pradesh Pednekar added, “It’s a revenge chase film, so I had to be fit physically. We underwent a lot of training and we could withstand everything in Chambal because he had physically and mentally prepared us personally.”

Manoj Bajpayee, Sushant Singh Rajput, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana are also starring in the film in lead roles.
