Bhumi Pednekar all for content-driven films

Her debut role showed her playing an overweight character, in Sharat Katariya’s ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ (2015) and contrary to what the norm is said for one to be a conventional lead female, Bhumi Pednekar still bagged all the awards for her performance. Setting an example of what makes a good film, the actress believes it’s now all about good content, rather than just pretty faces.

“If you look at ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, it was a purely content-based film. Things are changing; actors aren’t running around trees anymore. Character-driven films are being made as well,” Hindustant Times reports the actress stating.

Pednekar is currently working on her forthcoming venture titled, ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ opposite Akshay Kumar. Talking of her experience with working with the big star, she expressed, “Working with Akshay Kumar has been a fabulous experience. He has great energy on the sets. He is always so enthusiastic about everything.”

When asked how her new role compares to that of her first character, Padnekar explained, “The two characters can’t be compared, as they are very different.”

In the meantime Padenekar’s next big release will be Sameer Sharma’s ‘Manmarziyan’ where she will be sharing the screen with Ayushmann Khurrana again.
