The scripting part of the musical version of of Gurinder Chaddha’s hugely successful film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ is complete.
Talking to Mid-Day, Chaddha said, “In a way, Bend It Like Beckham Musical is a homage to the Hindi movies I grew up watching, where all the emotions were expressed through song and music. We even have a song where the father expresses his emotions about his parental duty to his daughter. If that isn۪t KL Saigal coming to West End, what is?”
The West End version has music by Howard Goodall, with lyrics by Charles Hart who is known for the songs in ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’. Bally Sagoo will touch up on the music by adding an Indian flavour to it.
Some auditions for the play will be carried out on the musical’s official website, which goes live soon. Budding actors/singers will be able to upload their pictures and demos via the site.
