BCCI puts hold on MS Dhoni biopic

There was talk not so long ago about cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s life planning to be put on celluloid. However, it seems the film has now been put on hold thanks to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sushant Singh Rajput was said to have been the perfect actor for the lead role and no doubt he would have done a sterling job if it weren’t for the BCCI. They have told the cricketer that a film cannot be made on him while he is still a professional player of the sport.

A friend of Dhoni’s said to Mumbai Mirror, “To begin with, it was not a commercially viable project because a sports drama, even on a game as popular as cricket, has a niche audience. But the real roadblock came from BCCI. If we do go ahead with the film it will only happen after MSD’s career on the field has come to an end”. Apparently the BCCI has demanded 40 crores which meant the film’s budget was extortionate.
