BCCI informs team owners: IPL 2020 ‘postponed indefinitely’

With India extending its lockdown until May, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed franchises of the lucrative tournament that this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) has been “postponed indefinitely”.

The BCCI is yet to officially declare the news, however media reports say that the board has informed all stakeholders that the event stands “postponed and not cancelled”.

PTI quoted a veteran franchise official saying, “Yes, the BCCI has intimated us that IPL has been postponed for the time being but they are hopeful of finding a window later this year as and when things normalise.”

This year’s IPL was expected to take place on 29th March and was then deferred to 15th April. A new date is yet to be announced.
