BCCI awards IPL USA media rights to ESPN

ESPN has been awarded the online media rights for the US market by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Reports say that the broadcaster paid $12.4m for three years until 2017. It received competition from the likes of Willow TV and Times Internet. Up until now, Willow TV held the media rights for the territory.

���We are delighted to have entered into a strategic partnership with one of the leading platforms of global sport, ESPN, which will deliver the widest possible reach ever for the Pepsi IPL in the United States,�۝ BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said.

In India, Star India’s Novi Digital Entertainment won the IPL media rights for Rs. 302.2 crore for three years.
