ESPN has been awarded the online media rights for the US market by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Reports say that the broadcaster paid $12.4m for three years until 2017. It received competition from the likes of Willow TV and Times Internet. Up until now, Willow TV held the media rights for the territory.
���We are delighted to have entered into a strategic partnership with one of the leading platforms of global sport, ESPN, which will deliver the widest possible reach ever for the Pepsi IPL in the United States,� BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said.
In India, Star India’s Novi Digital Entertainment won the IPL media rights for Rs. 302.2 crore for three years.
