BCCI announce IPL 2023-2027 media rights tender process

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has announced the tender process for the IPL media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle.

The Governing Council of the IPL said in is meeting on Tuesday that the rights tender will be released immediately after the appointment of the two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on 25th October 2021.

This time around, the current rights holder, Disney Star, faces stiff competition from Viacom18’s upcoming sports channel and the potential merged entity between Sony and ZEE.

Meanwhile, the council also confirmed that last day of the league stage (8th October 2021) of the ongoing season will see the two final matches played concurrently. Instead of having one afternoon match and one evening match, two matches (SRH v MI and RCB v DC) will be played simultaneously.
