BBC’s Sangeeta Myska poached by Five News

Five News and Sky News have appointed Sangita Myska to join existing faces of Five News – Kirsty Young and Charlie Stayt – to form the presenting team for the new service which starts on January 3rd, 2005, it was announced today. Myska has been news correspondent on the One, Six and Ten O?Clock news at the BBC since 2002 and anchored BBC Three?s 7 O?Clock News in February 2003 before returning to BBC ?s main bulletins in March 2004.

Myska is one third of the new faces being introduced to Five News’ new bulletin from January. Sky News presenter Julie Etchingham and Kate Sanderson will also be making their debut on Five News alongside Sangeeta early January.

News anchor Kirsty Young will continue to present Five?s flagship bulletins at 17.30 and 19.00. Five News awarded their contract to Sky News earlier this year after ITV News producing the broadcaster’s news for the past few years. The change comes in effect on 3rd January 2005.
