BBC to produce Sony TV show ‘Jhalak…’

BBC TV will produce a show for an Asian TV channel, its been confirmed.

Sony Entertainment Television Asia show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’, which has proved a runaway success was formely produced by Synergy Adlabs but the responsibility has now been given to the BBC.

A source from Synergy informed, “The new season of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa unlike the previous ones, will be produced by BBC instead of Synergy Adlabs. Since BBC launched its own production house last year, they have decided to produce this celebrity dance reality show. Currently the show is in the pre-production stages. Saroj Khan has been approached to be on the panel of judges. Few cricketers from the Indian team have also been approached to participate but none of the judges or the participants have been finalised.”

BBC television content and production head Saul Nasse said, “I can’t talk anything about the show as it is too early to talk. I will be in a position to comment only when we make an official announcement.”

‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ is an Indian spin-off of Britain’s favorite dance celeb show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, which the BBC owns the rights for. The new series of ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ starts early next year.
