BBC Radio Leicester launches weekly curry show

The BBC has confirmed the launch of its first ever radio show dedicated to curry. The show will broadcast on BBC Radio Leicester and introduces brand new presenter Anand Bhatt, known locally for his contributions to Desi and Kathak dance.

With invited guests Bhatt will explore local cuisine and how Asian influences and traditions have shaped the dishes we know and love today.

“It’s Saturday Kitchen meets Dinner Date,” says BBC Radio Leicester editor Sophie Shardlow, “It’s a cooking chat show with a twist. It will feature all the latest music plus special guests – with no background in cooking, features resident chefs from some of Leicester’s best restaurants, and is hosted by local celebrity the wonderful Anand Bhatt.”

Bhatt said, “I’m really looking forward to joining the BBC Radio Leicester team and injecting some spice into Monday evenings. We all love a good curry, but on the show we’ll be exploring every flavour and spice on the market. And we’ll be joined by fascinating guests, from the world of sport through to arts and culture, all with great stories to tell.”

“And like most dinner parties I’ll be expecting my guests to bring something too – their favourite song for me to play!”

‘The Curry Show’ will air every Monday, starting from 19th March at 19:00.
