BBC Radio 4 to air Bollywood rom-com drama

BBC Radio 4 will be broadcasting a Bollywood infused romantic comedy this afternoon.

‘Til Jihad Do Us A Part’ is about Meena, who is not an observant Muslim. She enjoys bacon butties, gets a little tipsy from time to time and has had her fair share of boyfriends. But she’s nearly 30 and the pressure is on to settle down. Her life changes when a charming, mysterious, sophisticated, Sarwar arrives from Kashmir.

Starring Rokhsaneh Ghawam Shahidi (Emmerdale), Sagar Arya (Love Aaj Kal), and featuring the long-awaited reunion of ‘Goodness Gracious Me’s’ Kulvinder Ghir and Nina Wadia, it’s a Bollywood-infused romcom that plays a bit like Bridget Jones meets Mission Kashmir.

Shahi Hussain has written the show and Melanie Harris of Crosslab Productions has produced the drama for BBC Radio 4.

Shahi Hussain has previously written ‘Reality Check’ for the BBC Asian Network. This was another project led by a strong British-Asian female character.

‘Til Jihad Do Us A Part’ airs on BBC Radio 4 at 14:15 today (11th October) and will be available on BBCi Player for a week after its broadcast.
