BBC News not closing down

The BBC has confirmed that it will not be closing down the BBC News channel.

The service had been under the scanner in an effort to save costs. However, the corporation said it was considering other options such as merging the channel with BBC World News rather than completely phasing it out.

BBC News reported Tony Hall, Director General, BBC saying, “There’s no doubt that the amount of news we consume through our phones will continue to rise but the place of live TV news suddenly looks a lot more secure.”
